Introduction of the course
This module describes the key concepts of Chest Physio Therapy (CPT). CPT includes postural drainage, chest percussion, vibration, coughing and deep-breathing exercises that is helpful to mobilize or loosen the secretions in the lungs and respiratory tract especially for patients with large amount of secretions or ineffective cough.
The objective of this module is to:
- Understand the basic concepts of CPT
- Help nurses gain necessary skill in performing CPT
Chest physiotherapy (CPT) is the treatments generally performed by physical therapists and respiratory therapists.
In this part we will learn about the purpose of performing CPT, Indications, Contraindications, Initial assessment of the patient, Articles required for performing CPT, Postural drainage, Percussion and Vibration.
This part of the module deals with the various sites, position and technique of performing CPT.
